Gold resale estimate
How to estimate Thai gold jewelry resale value
Estimate gold bar or ornament resale value from the relevant buy price and weight, while accounting for purity, condition, wear, and shop policy.
Short answer: Begin with the buy price for the correct gold type and multiply it by weight in Thai gold baht. The result is only an estimate because a shop may check purity, actual weight, condition, wear, and supporting documents.
Basic resale formula
Estimated resale value = relevant current buy price × weight in gold baht
For Thai gold jewelry resale value, use the ornament buy price rather than the sell price shown when buying. For a bar, use the gold bar buy price.
What might one baht sell for?
The base estimate for one gold baht is close to the quoted buy price for that type. The actual offer can differ because of purity, measured weight, condition, and shop policy. Check the latest update time and let a shop inspect the item.
One salueng and half-salueng
One salueng is 0.25 gold baht, so its base estimate is buy price per baht multiplied by 0.25. Half a salueng uses 0.125. An older ornament may weigh less than it did at purchase because of wear.
What happens to the workmanship fee?
The workmanship fee is a purchase cost and is generally not returned in full on resale. Comparing a purchase total that includes the fee with a value based on the buy price can therefore show a loss even when the market price has not moved much.
What a shop may consider
- The buy price at the time of inspection
- Gold type and purity
- Actual measured weight
- Condition, joints, and wear
- Certificate and shop policy
Gold Go can organize recorded cost and estimate current value. It cannot replace physical inspection or an offer from a gold shop.
