Getting started
How to track a gold portfolio and estimate profit or loss with Gold Go
Record gold weight, purchase price, workmanship fee, and date to review cost, estimated current value, and profit or loss.
Short answer: Add each gold item in Gold Go, choose its category, and enter weight in Thai gold baht, purchase price, date, and workmanship fee. The app totals recorded cost and compares it with value estimated from the current buy price to show an approximate profit or loss.
What information do you need?
- Gold type, such as a bar, ring, necklace, bracelet, or earring
- Weight in Thai gold baht
- Purchase price per gold baht
- Purchase date
- Workmanship fee or related cost, if any
If the receipt is unavailable, use the best information you can verify and give the item a memorable name. You can edit it later.
Add a gold item in four steps
- Open My Portfolio and choose to add an item.
- Select a category and name it, such as “1-baht necklace.”
- Enter weight, purchase price, date, and workmanship fee.
- Review and save. The item appears with recorded cost and estimated value.
How Gold Go calculates recorded cost
The formula is:
Recorded total cost = purchase price per gold baht × weight + workmanship fee
The app then compares recorded cost with value estimated from the current buy price:
Estimated profit or loss = estimated current value − recorded total cost
This result is an estimate. A shop’s actual offer may differ because of purity, condition, shop policy, and timing. Request an actual quote before deciding to sell.
Why include the workmanship fee?
The fee is part of what you actually paid, especially for ornaments. Leaving it out can understate cost and distort the difference shown by the app.
Where portfolio data is stored
Gold-item records are stored in an on-device database and can be cleared from Settings. Clearing app data, uninstalling the app, or changing devices may remove locally stored records.
What Gold Go is not
Gold Go is not a gold shop, broker, trading system, or investment-advice service. It organizes information and calculates estimates from available data.
